The Carolina Inn has a beautiful historic charm and well-appointed rooms, but my experience with the service left much to be desired. I enjoyed the lovely ambiance and the proximity to UNC, which made it an ideal location for my visit. However, I encountered issues with inattentive staff and some cleanliness concerns that detracted from my overall enjoyment. I genuinely hope they can improve in these areas, especially since the hotel has such a rich heritage.

During my stay at The Carolina Inn, I found the hotel beautifully historic and well-located. However, the noise from outside really affected my sleep, and I encountered some inconsistent service from the staff. Overall, while the hotel has charm and comfort, some aspects could use improvement.

I had high hopes for my stay at The Carolina Inn, especially since I was visiting my son at UNC. While the hotel's historic charm and lovely surroundings were impressive, my experience was marred by a few issues, including a musty smell in the lobby and a somewhat rushed breakfast situation. Overall, it had its highlights but didn't fully meet my expectations. 😔

The Carolina Inn is a beautiful hotel with a rich history, but my stay was marred by an unpleasant sewage smell that came through the vents, leading to a disrupted night's sleep. The staff were very helpful in shifting me to another room, but I was surprised that no reimbursement was offered for the inconvenience. Overall, while the ambiance and location near UNC are really good, attention to internal issues is definitely needed.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was beautifully appointed, with comfortable bedding and a charming decor, though a bit tight for three people. Unfortunately, I faced a significant issue with a sewage smell coming from the HVAC system, which was quite off-putting.

I had a mixed experience at The Carolina Inn. On one hand, the historical charm and beautiful architecture were a treat, but I found the recent renovations left much to be desired. My room had poor Wi-Fi connectivity and the décor didn’t live up to the inn's classic reputation. Overall, while I appreciated some aspects, I feel it lost some of its original character.

Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in was a bit cramped and had issues with Wi-Fi, plus the design changes felt off. I noticed drips on the walls and gaps in the carpet. It seemed like the renovations compromised the comfort I expected from such a historic hotel.
Service

The staff were friendly and attentive, going out of their way to help us, especially with valet and shuttle information. However, I encountered some issues with the cleanliness of my room, which impacted my overall experience.
Location

The location is perfect for those visiting UNC, just a short walk to campus and downtown. I loved being in the heart of Chapel Hill, so that aspect was definitely a highlight of my stay.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were decent, but I found the breakfast to be overpriced. I also wished the dining hours were more accommodating. Overall, the quality was good, but I expected a bit more from a hotel of this caliber.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel has great facilities like valet parking and beautiful landscaping, which I appreciated. However, the facilities felt a bit outdated due to the renovations, and some areas felt dark and uninviting.
